Why did you start this site?
We created this site because while we love all the other sites out there, we do believe that having more options is a good thing. Every site has it’s own way to search for fics and it’s own criteria of what is acceptable and what isn’t.
Does that mean you don’t like the way those other sites are run?
Not at all. We use those sites ourselves. We archive our work on them, we read on them. However, things happen. Sites disappear for many reasons. Moderators move on to new fandoms. Domains and servers are lost for a variety of reasons. Sites are hacked. Back up options are always good.
Does one person run all the sites in the collection?
No. The goal is to have many people running many different types of sites. Sites that appeal to that individual. Whether it’s a forums set up for discussion, or art/graphics, or maybe you adore Owen Harper or the Fifth Doctor and think they deserve their own site. We want to offer you hosting at Worldsoutthere.com to show your love for your fandom.
So, anyone can have a site here?
Mostly, yes. We are happy to help you set up a site if you don’t know html, php, or any other language. eFiction and other various free scripts out there are a wonderful thing. However we do have some rules. Fandom is supposed to be fun, therefore, our biggest requirement is that you have to be able to run a fairly drama free site. We realize that drama will occasionally creep in, but we won’t host or support sites that are created for the purpose of being cruel, insulting, create wank, or are about character bashing. You don’t have to like a character, you don’t have to allow the character on your site, but you can not create a site designed specifically to bash a character. Other than that, try us? <a href=”mailto:shannon730@gmail.com”>Email me</a> your suggestion for a site, chances are we can work with you.
Do I have to have my site hosted by you to be part of the Collection?
No. Email me at shannon730@gmail.com and ask me to link to you and after making sure the site does meet our criteria we will be happy to link to you. However, it does have to be a website, not a blog or a journal of any kind. If it’s hosted on social networking site including Live Journal, Dreamwidth, or Insane Journal, we won’t link to it.
